Perry Kwan, Class of 2018, Yale-NUS College, who attended the Inter-University Programme (IUP) for Chinese Language Studies at Tsinghua University in Beijing, China as a recipient of the Chinese Language Scholarship funded by the Tan Chin Tuan Foundation, discovered the value of ‘approaching an issue from multiple angles and considering the perspectives of different stakeholders’. He shared that this helped him develop into a more agile and adaptable learner.
The Tan Chin Tuan Foundation initiated its More Than Words programme that encompasses various creative avenues such as speech and drama and museum visits, allowing the children to learn beyond words. The More Than Words showcase held yesterday, themed “Be The Change We Can Be”, was held at Anglo-Chinese School (Independent). 200 children aged 12 and below participated in various learning sessions and rehearsals over the course of two months that cumulated in the final performance.
200 children sang, danced and acted yesterday in a display of the arts skills they acquired over the past two months. The Tan Chin Tuan Foundation sponsored their lessons and organised the performance.
It was a meaningful June vacation for 140 ACJC students from eight classes as they participated in Project Cheer, an annual initiative by Tan Chin Tuan Foundation (TCTF) to encourage students to put their values into action by creating positive experiences for underprivileged children and elderly. Over eight days, the students designed their own programmes to bring cheer to over 400 beneficiaries from eight charities supported by TCTF.
Following the success of the pilot run of Project Cheer, by the Tan Chin Tuan Foundation (TCTF) in partnership with Anglo-Chinese Junior College (ACJC) last June, students from ACJC returned to volunteer again. 180 students spent their March and June school holidays making a difference to both the young and old through various befriending initiatives.
A simple bracelet can extend to become a bridge between two generations.
During their June holidays, 100 ACJC students participated in Project Cheer, an initiative funded and organised by the Tan Chin Tuan Foundation, to spread joy to 300 children and elderly.
