Ren Ci Community Hospital and Brahm Centre, a TCTF-supported non-profit centre, launched the Mindful Caregiver programme focused on helping caregivers manage their stress. The centre will hold twice-weekly workshops for patients at Ren Ci’s hospital wards to toughen their mental states and help them accept their conditions. The programme also offers befriending services and support groups to caregivers and patients after the latter have been discharged. The programme is largely funded by the Tote Board, with private sector support from the Tan Chin Tuan Foundation, the Wan Family and Lee Foundation.
Professor Gill, renowned China expert, delivered a public lecture at Yale-NUS, which discussed the enduring paradox of US-China relations, and provided insights on the past, present and potential future situation of the relationship. The lecture was held under the auspices of the Tan Chin Tuan Chinese Culture and Civilisation Programme, which aims to increase the understanding of China and Chinese culture amongst the students at Yale-NUS College. The Tan Chin Tuan Foundation also supports Yale-NUS’ Chinese Language Scholarship Programme and co-curricular activities which help deepen our students’ knowledge of China.
The main source of funds for The Prophet Muhammad’s Birthday Memorial Scholarship Fund Board (LBKM) comes from donors. In the spirit of giving, non-Malay-Muslims too have contributed to LBKM. Companies, organisations and foundations make up a big part of corporate contributions. Tan Chin Tuan Foundation (TCTF) is an example of a regular donor for LBKM.
NAFA’s students have been awarded scholarships and merit awards by the Tan Chin Tuan Foundation. Since 2007, our students have benefited significantly from the Foundation’s education awards. This year, five of our deserving students from the School of Art & Design, School of Arts Management, Dance & Theatre and School of Music were recognised by the Foundation for their outstanding academic results and excellent track records.
This year, TTSH is honoured to have two accomplished nurses receive The Tan Chin Tuan Nursing Award for Enrolled Nurses, Singapore’s highest accolade for Enrolled Nurses: Principal Enrolled Nurse Mageswary D/O Thambirajah, who is the second nurse in TTSH history to be the first runner-up, and Senior Assistant Nurse Usha D/O Kumaran.
TCTF Deputy Chairman, Ms Chew Gek Khim was named one of The Peak’s top ten Singaporean women game-changers in its annual Power List. “The foundation was started by my grandfather and it was part of my ‘brief’ to make money and also to give it away responsibly. He believed that we are stewards of resources that have been entrusted to us, be it time, money or people. Such resources should be assiduously invested or cultivated to ensure they reap a maximum return or realise their maximum potential.”
