A day of celebration for SJIIM IBDP scholars

SJIIM recently celebrated its fourth batch of International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) scholars through a Scholarship Awards Ceremony on 27 September 2019. The event was graced by the SJIIM Board of Governors Chairman and Brother President of SJI Singapore, Dato’ Br. Paul Ho as the Guest of Honor and notable guests such as Dato’ Richard Ong who is a council member of the Tan Sri Tan Foundation.

A time honoured Lasallian tradition, the IBDP Scholarship Programme is a cornerstone feature of St. Joseph’s Institution International Schools in Singapore and Malaysia. The scholarship programme is now in its fourth cycle and has been supported by many organizations and well wishers since its inception in 2016 and in particular, the Tan Chin Tuan and Tan Sri Tan Foundation that have been significant benefactors of the initiative.

The Josephian of the Year Award has been presented to Nicol Yong Jia Jia. During the St Joseph’s Institution International School Malaysia’s (SJIIM) second International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) graduation ceremony at its Tropicana PJ Campus auditorium, Nicol received the Tan Sri Tan Chin Tuan Book Prize Award. The award was presented to her by Tan Sri Tan Foundation, council member Dato’ Richard Ong.  The foundation is also one of SJIIM’s IBDP scholarship programme sponsors.

The event was graced by the Brother President of SJIInternational Singapore, Br. Lawrence Humphrey as the Guest of Honour and notable guests such as Ms. Chew Gek Hiang, council member of the Tan Chin Tuan and Tan Sri Tan Foundation. A time honoured Lasallian tradition that is also observed in its brother school, SJI International Singapore, the IBDP Scholarship Programme is a cornerstone of the Lasallian International School. The scholarship programme is now in its third cycle and has been supported by many organisations, well-wishers since its inception in 2016 and in particular, the Tan Chin Tuan and Tan Sri Tan Foundation who has been a significant benefactor of the initiative.

SJIIM holds 1st Graduation Ceremony

St. Joseph’s Institution International School Malaysia (SJIIM) recently held its first ever graduation ceremony on 23 May 2018 at its Tropicana PJ Campus auditorium. The ceremony which was attended by scores of graduates, school governors, parents, sponsors, teachers and VIP guests alike was graced by its Guest of Honour, Dato’ Br. Paul Ho FSC who is the Brother Auxiliary Visitor of the Lasallian East Asia District and the Brother President of SJI Singapore, sister school of SJIIM. 41 students graduated from SJIIM’s International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme. Eng Ying Xian received the Tan Sri Tan Foundation Book Prize Award from Dato’ Richard Ong, Council Member of the Tan Sri Tan Foundation. He was also awarded the Josephian of the Year Award.

Ms. Yap Su-Yin, CEO of the Tan Chin Tuan Foundation and representative of the Tan Sri Tan Foundation together with Dato’ Richard Ong was pleased to have met the scholars they have helped sponsored together with their families. “As society pushes for excellence in every field, we recognise that education must be holistic, empowering and anchored in wholesome values. Granting wishes of 200 needy children for Christmas

In conjunction with the 7th Annual Grant A Wish festive celebration held at Ipoh Parade shopping centre, two welfare bodies, Bethany Home and Perak Palliative Care Society (PPCS), has been selected to each receive RM10,000. The donation was part of ARA Asset Management Limited’s CARES (Comprehensive Assistance and Responsible Engagement Services) initiative with support from the Tan Sri Tan Foundation.

‘Grant A Wish’ invites you to donate gifts to the underprivileged

To encourage the public to share the joy of Christmas with the underprivileged, Ipoh Parade Shopping Centre will be collecting gifts from the public and donating them to children’s homes, so the children can too, have a warm and joyful Christmas. In addition, through funding support by ARA Asset Management Limited and Tan Sri Tan Foundation, RM 10,000 cheques were presented to Bethany Home and Perak Palliative Care Society in a gift presentation and unwrapping ceremony that will take place on 31 December.

Ipoh Parade Shopping Centre to host a ceremony to grant orphans’ wishes

Ipoh Parade will continue its tradition of giving – to host the ‘Grant A Wish’ campaign, in hopes of benefiting 200 orphans from Ipoh, and letting them experience the warmth and joy of Christmas. Ipoh Parade has once again commenced its annual “Grant A Wish” tradition. Exclusive to Ipoh Parade, “Grant A Wish” paves way to encourage the public to share the joy of Christmas with underprivileged children. Two welfare organisations, Bethany Home and Perak Palliative Care Society, to be the recipients of a RM10,000 donation each as part of the larger ARA CARES initiative, with funding support by the Tan Sri Tan Foundation.

Kechara Soup Kitchen’s mobile clinic helps homeless with the support of Tan Chin Tuan Foundation

With the support of TCTF, Kechara Soup Kitchen (Penang), launched a mobile clinic in August. Till now, the mobile clinic helped 40 patients and one was sent to the central hospital for acute gastric.

On Saturday, KSK’s Centre Director, Ms Patsy Gooi distributed food rations and red packets to 20 elderly. Besides giving assistance to the homeless and rickshaw peddlers, the centre now is also a “club” for them to gather.
