The foundation funded the digitization of the pre-modern Chinese Collection at the Bodleian Libraries (University of Oxford). Facilitated by the foundation, the information and processes will be shared with other institutions such as the Needham Research Institute in Cambridge and local varsities such as Nanyang Technological University, to encourage these institutions to undertake similar endeavours.
Tan Chin Tuan Foundation’s funding support enabled the Singapore Management University (SMU) Sim Kee Boon Institute for Financial Economics (SKBI) to invite Professor Paul Krugman to Singapore in 2013 to address the issue of financial regulation in crisis. Professor Krugman’s lecture at SKBI was on “Global Economic Outlook: Preventing the Next Crisis”.
Over 300 delegates attended. His speech was simultaneously webcast to 900 students from junior colleges and polytechnics in Singapore.
