Kick starting our signature More Than Words programme for the year, TCTF held two sessions of creative writing workshops with Fei Yue Family Services at SSO @ Taman Jurong and ISCOS on 14 and 15 March 2016.
Putting on their thinking caps, close to 30 inquisitive children tried their hand at crafting lune poems and learned to identify the difference between a noun, verb and adjective. They engaged in five exploratory exercises that encompassed both basic prose and poetry.
Leveraging upon his English major studies, Tan Sri (Dr) Tan Chin Tuan scholar, Samuel Wee from Nanyang Technological University was given the opportunity to go beyond the capacity of a volunteer. Empowered to lead as a trainer and mentor, he facilitated the two-hour workshops together with three fellow volunteers and actively encouraged the young participants to stretch their skills in reading and writing.
