MTW 2019: World Environment Day

10 Jun 2019

35 children from PPIS Student Care Centre (Jurong) went to Jurong Lake Gardens (JLG) for World Environment Day under TCTF’s More Than Words Signature Programme. This was in collaboration with students from the Ngee Ann Polytechnic Christieara Programme which included Tan Sri (Dr) Tan Chin Tuan Scholar 2018 Benson Yee from Ngee Ann Polytechnic (NP), fellow TCTF scholar Alain Aow and 20 other volunteers.

This two-part programme involved an excursion cum creative expression (inspired by Photovoice- a process of incorporating photography into education to raise interesting perspectives) workshop in the morning at JLG and a creative writing workshop in the afternoon at PPIS (Jurong).

During the workshop, they participated in a creative writing activity and imagined themselves as photojournalists and interviewed each about the reasons behind taking the photos from JLG. Next, they crafted a write-up on how these photos were taken and created stories on how they imagined JLG would be like 20 years from now.
