More Than Words Book Launch 2018: WE CAN – Create, Contribute, Care, Connect, Cherish

6 Sep 2018

Our 5th edition of the More Than Words book: “WE CAN – Create, Contribute, Care, Connect, Cherish” was launched on Tuesday, 4 September at the National Library with 260 charity representatives, children and adults in attendance.

More Than Words is a TCTF signature programme which seeks to promote creative literacy, potentially inspiring and equipping children to think imaginatively and write better. The stories in the book were a culmination of almost eight months of creative materials collected from over 60 children beneficiaries from TCTF-supported charities, across three Student Care Centres (Lakeside Student Care Jurong East, PPIS Student Care Centre Jurong and Bedok).

In line with the theme of encouraging all to care for our environment and cherish the connections we have with one another, invited charity beneficiaries and partners participated in making shakers from recycled materials. They were also treated to heartwarming performances by the children themselves, which included a fashion show, poetry recital, song and dance items, and an interactive storytelling session by Mr Roger Jenkins from Story Connection.

With the five values emphasised in the 5th book of More Than Words, it is with hope that the children will create a greater future, contribute to society, care for one another, connect close relationships and cherish the opportunities throughout the years!
