Eleven of SimTech musically inclined staff treated over 120 seniors of Kheng Chiu Loke Tin Kee Home at Tampines with Mandarin, Cantonese and English evergreens. Their efforts towards making sure that the seniors had a good time were reflected towards the myriad of musical equipment brought to the centre, from a drum set, to guitars, a cello, a harmonica and not forgetting their beautiful voices. Song sheets were and given out (with larger fonts) to the seniors to encourage them to sing along. Serenaded were they for 30 minutes in which the musical performance ended on a high note with a brilliant harmonica solo by one of the Volunteers. Her performance simple took out breaths away.
The musical morning was followed by rounds of Boccia, umpired by three volunteers from Student Volunteer Corps. These seniors enthusiastically lined up to play the game. Wilma, the centre manager smoothly helped the volunteers translate game instructions in Hokkien and gave live commentary on the game.
Time passed quickly and whilst lunch was served half an hour late, the seniors were happy to have had a fruitful morning, wrapped up with a simple but scrumptious lunch.
