On 8 March 2018, 20 girls from CARE Singapore were invited to the DigiGirlz programme, piloted by Microsoft, for International Women’s Day at Singapore LinkedIn’s office.
The event kick-started with a panel discussion on the topic of “How Are You Changing The World?”, where successful women working in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM)-related industries were invited, to inspire and encourage young women to start envisioning their careers in the future- shifting the stereotype that only men can excel in the tech and engineering industry.
DigiGirlz programme also consisted of workshops for educators and students, such as: “Getting to Know Coding through Computer Vision & Augmented Reality”, by Coding Garage – which aims to present eye-opening opportunities to inspire female students to learn more about coding languages C# and Python, extending the possibilities of #makewhatsnext.
We would like to thank the event organiser, Microsoft, the coordinator, Encore! The European Season in Singapore, and TCTF’s dedicated partner, CARE Singapore, for the efforts in developing the next generation of women in tech!
