SOKOLA provides educational opportunities for indigenous people in remote areas of Indonesia by developing a curriculum and a practical ‘reading-writing-counting’ method adapted to the communities. With the foundation’s sponsorship, SOKOLA continued its literacy programme for the Asmat people in Papua, where illiteracy the rate is about 85 percent. In addition, the foundation sponsored a training programme for the leaders of SOKOLA. The ‘training-the-trainers’ workshop enabled SOKOLA team to improve their capacity building to provide strategic educational opportunities for their beneficiaries.
