TCTF’s goal to strengthen vulnerable communities in the ASEAN region led it to Myanmar in October 2011 where, with the help of Myanmese and Singaporean partners, we managed to donate soaps, toothbrushes and various non-perishable goods like sacks of rice for distribution to the Instruments for Christ Orphanage Centre and Bethesda Children’s Home. This helped the village folks in meeting their basic nutritional needs.

TCTF’s support for the construction of the Canossian Boarding House & Training Centre, managed by the Canossian Daughters of Charity, is on-going. Currently, training for the teachers is underway at the Canossian sisters’ quarters. TCTF’s sponsorship is to help groom apprentice teachers, so that women can have a viable teaching career, and this is also beneficial to the children and the community, who will have better teachers and educational opportunities.

The school library project pressed on for a second year. Volunteers from the Man Fut Tong Welfare Society, Singapore Red Cross Society and TCTF disbursed uniforms, refreshments and school stationery to the pupils from the same school, to the delight of the pupils, their families and teachers.
