Supporting the elderly in Malaysia

10 Oct 2014

Over the years, the foundation supported more than 10 charities serving the elderly in Malaysia. Our donations went towards providing the elderly with packed meals, organising activities and outings.

In conjunction with Tan Sri (Dr) Tan Chin Tuan’s Birth Centennial Year in 2008, the foundation treated over 50 residents and helpers from The Little Sisters of the Poor and Silver Jubilee Home for the Aged to a hearty luncheon at the Parkroyal Hotel in Penang. In Kuala Lumpur, the foundation’s council members hosted lunch to celebrate the December birthdays of the elderly and presented the donation personally.

To facilitate the mobility of the needy elderly, the foundation sponsored the upgrading of the lifts in Home for the Aged (CWS) SIMEE in 2013.

The foundation also supported Kechara Soup Kitchen (Penang) in its food distribution programme to feed the homeless and urban poor and the mobile clinic to attend to needy homeless people who are deprived of medical attention. The mobile clinic follows the food distribution team to treat those in need of medical assistance along the way. In October 2014, Dr Tan Kheng Lian, Chairman of TCTF presented a cheque to Ms Patsy Gooi, Centre Director of Kechara Soup Kitchen.
