Grand opening of the 60-bed Stella Maris General Hospital in Nias, Indonesia. Project-led by Tan Chin Tuan Foundation, the reconstruction followed after the 2004 tsunami. It drew on Singapore-Indonesia partners, including the Singapore Red Cross Society, World Federation of Catholic Medical Associations, Sisters of Charity of Our Lady Mother of Mercy and Perdhaki.

3,000 entries submitted by TCTF’s beneficiaries vied for top spot at an original photography contest by TCTF called “My 24 Hours: My Singapore, My Home”. Using disposable cameras sponsored by the foundation, young and old folks captured on film how they spent Singapore’s National Day on 9 August. The contest, held in celebration of our nation’s 44th birthday, was featured by The Straits Times.
