With support from the Tan Chin Tuan Foundation, 11 Yale-NUS students stepped up their language learning efforts last summer. They did so by embarking on immersive programmes at language schools in various Chinese-speaking countries under the Chinese Language scholarship. Despite starting out with varying levels of language proficiencies, all of them had similar goals – to learn the Chinese language and further develop their appreciation for Chinese culture and history.
