Launch of Wall Mural ‘Singapore, Our Home Always’

6 Aug 2017

As a way for Tan Chin Tuan Foundation scholars to hone their skills and contribute to the community, more than 20 staff, interns and students from TCTF and NAFA spent two weeks in May to paint and liven up the walls of the Society for the Aged Sick. The wall mural, which was designed by TCTF-NAFA scholars, depicts historical sights, activities and iconic places in Singapore.

On 6 August 2017, our talented NAFA scholars and friends took the stage to perform an original skit for the official launch of the wall mural, ‘Singapore, Our Home Always’. This was held in conjunction with ACE Senior’s National Day celebrations, at Society for the Aged Sick, which was supported by TCTF. There was much joy and laughter as a young lady & her grandma took the elderly residents on a trip down memory lane which even saw mural characters such as the Samsui woman, Teh Tarik man and Trishaw puller come alive. The elderly were thrilled by the performance and even sang harmoniously to a spontaneous rendition of a popular mandarin song.
