A team of 29 Singaporeans, comprising general practitioners, eye surgeons, opticians, nurses, physiotherapists, dentists and other healthcare professionals, volunteered for five days at Kampong Chhnang, a province 2 hours’ drive away from Phnom Penh, Cambodia. About 40 Khmer volunteers, assisted as interpreters and assistants.

The Singapore team treated about 800 villagers (some had one admission voucher, but brought along their children) for a variety of health ailments. The eye clinic alone attended to over 700 patients with cataract, glaucoma, long and short sightedness.

The medical mission was organised by Bethesda Hall and the medicines were sponsored by the Tan Chin Tuan Foundation, which continues to support in the areas of education and community needs.
